Behind the Lens
Behind the Lens is a collection of black-and-white photographs and experimental works created slowly and deliberately, in places both familiar and far from home. The black-and-white images begin on 35mm film. They are finished by hand in my darkroom, where I develop my own negatives and silver gelatin prints, embracing the intimacy and unpredictability of analog process.
Alongside these traditional works, I create color and black-and-white mixed media photo transfers and original chromoskedasic Sabatier pieces. These experimental processes invite light, chemistry, and chance to collaborate in shaping the final image, often producing surfaces that feel layered, weathered, or painterly.
My work draws from travel abroad, quiet moments in nature, and the occasional presence of cats unposed, indifferent, and entirely themselves. I’m drawn to texture, shadow, and what lingers just outside the frame.
This body of work is less about capturing perfection and more about honoring what remains, what’s fleeting, overlooked, or waiting to be seen.
